Position Title: Accountant III (Budget Accountant) Employment Type: Full time, Academic Staff, Exempt Reports To: The Budget Accountant will report to Controller Pay Range: \$64,000-\$68,0000 UW-Parkside is seeking a collaborative and skilled Budget Accountant in the office of Business Services. As a Business Services team member, this position performs advanced budgeting duties following UW system policies and procedures. The Budget Accountant needs to have a high level of knowledge and expertise, and works daily with a variety of funding sources. A wide range of job duties includes preparing and reconciling budget transactions; recommending controls and process improvements; troubleshooting errors; maintaining budget records and providing customer service to staff. JOB DUTIES: This position requires the ability to work independently, and as part of a team and to exercise sound judgment and discretion, in applying and interpreting UW financial policies and procedures. Develops and manages complex work unit budgets, analyzing funding sources, operational needs, budget trends, and financial commitments. Forecasts budget balances and recommends corrective action as needed. Provides budget and policy analysis for complex unit or organizational budgets containing a variety of funding sources for multiple programs. Develops short- and long-term budgetary projections, annual operating budgets, and program cost analyses. Analyzes, identifies, and makes recommendations for cost savings and funding options by conducting research on diverse institutional data. Conducts program and budget research, analyzes data, and prepares complex financial reports in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Fine motor skills: Ability to operate a keyboard and mouse efficiently for data entry and document creation. Ability to read documents, screens, and reviewing paperwork. Occasional mobility: Ability to stand, walk, and move around the office to access files, meet with colleagues, or attend meetings.
