Position Overview: As a member of the Commercial Order Processing team at Astound, you will be a key part of the team for implementing and maintaining the NID, switching and routing network. Your responsibilities will include network device maintenance and implementation, as well as serving as an escalation point for network events. You will act as an escalation point for network issues, combining excellent troubleshooting, communication, and network management skills, to expedite problem resolution and act as a key point of contact between internal groups, vendors, and network peers. A Day in the Life of the Network Engineer I: Handle escalated trouble calls and work closely with the NOC, engineering, field technicians, and telecommunications carriers to resolve service issues Act as an externally facing point of contact to facilitate handling of problem reports and maintain relations with customers, network peers and vendors Configure router equipment. Install software, configure network ports, set up routing protocols, implement VLANs, create ACLs, etc. Participate in on-call rotation support rotation, with ability to respond to callouts within guidance Assist in training and mentoring of new hires to the group Perform installation, upgrade, and problem resolution for networking issues Performs routine preventative/corrective maintenance, system tuning, administration, and monitoring of managed networks to be conducted in after hour's windows on occasion Troubleshoot problems and recommend procurement, removals, and modifications to network components and generate usage reports Other duties as assigned What You Bring to the Table: Minimum 4 years of experience with an Internet service provider or enterprise-level network engineering Strong fundamental knowledge and experience with switches and routers Enjoy working in a team environment and support multiple customer issues at a time Strong verbal and written communication skills Highly organized, strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task Ability to be on an on-call rotation Education: High school diploma or equivalent At least one of the following current certifications: CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or CCDA We're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including: 401k retirement plan, with employer match Insurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurance Paid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organization Floating Holiday: 40 hours per year Paid Holidays: 7 days per year Paid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local laws Tuition reimbursement program Employee discount program *Benefits listed above are for regular full-time positions The base salary range for this position is $70,000- $85,000, plus opportunities for bonus and benefits, if applicable. The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors
