Dental Assistant Responsibilities:

• Preparing patients for dental work.
• Helping with infection control by sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, setting up instrument trays, preparing materials, and assisting with dental procedures.
• Assisting dentists in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary.
• Assisting dental hygienists with procedures when necessary.
• Providing great patient care. Assisting the Dr Chairside for treatment using 4 handed dentistry.
• Recording treatment information in patient records during exams and ensuring Tx plan is broken into appointments including description and # of units.
• Chart notes following every appointment you assisted with.
• Exposing dental x-rays, transferring to Curve, labeling correctly and caring for dental x-ray equipment.
• Providing postoperative instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Caring for dental equipment.
• Forming preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts.
• Ensuring the appropriate supply of materials and informing Dr of needed supplies.
• Maintaining dental equipment inventory.
• Fabricating temporary restorations and custom impressions from preliminary impressions.
• Ensuring with the Front desk that all needed patient paperwork including HH updates, TX plans and Consent forms are collected.
• Performing maintenance on Sterilizers. Keeping log of Sterilization strips, maintenance and all reports on Sterilizers
• Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
• Attend training and continuing education as needed.
• Other duties as assigned
