Job Summary:

Wolverine Services, an Akima Company, is looking for a Maintenance Welder to work at PMRF in Kekeha, Kauai.

Wolverine Services is looking for a self-starter to take care of our electrical needs at the Kauai Test Facility. We are seeking a safety minded, enthusiastic, hardworking, talented, and responsible person who can work independently in the successful performance of assigned tasking. For this position, the Maintenance Electrician shall have a broad background in commercial and residential electrical systems.

An Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves most of the following: installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments. In general, the work of the maintenance electrician requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all project electrical work, including but not limited to, installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, lighting, outlets, switches, wiring motors, motor controls, instrumentation installation and troubleshooting, control panel maintenance.

  • Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to:

  • hydraulic/electric benders.

  • knockout punch sets.

  • cable puller, meggers.

  • hi-pot equipment.

  • volt meters.

  • multi-testers.

  • ammeter.

  • Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and external customers. Coordinates and communicates with project personnel as well as other outside entities to ensure operational reliability and environmental compliance.

  • Capable of conducting duties in a safe, efficient manner that will ensure safety to themselves, co-workers and the public. Follows facility Environmental, Health, and Safety Policies. Reports unsafe conditions.

  • Participation in the following safety programs plus other safety programs as identified.

  • Lock-out Tag-out Program.

  • Confine Space Program.

  • Fall Protection & Climbing Safety Program.

  • Hazard Communication Program.

  • Hearing Conservation Program.

  • Hot Works Program.

  • PPE Safety Program.

  • SPPC Program.

  • Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.

  • Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's License.

  • Five years of experience as an electrician.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of safety management.

  • Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.

  • Ability to speak, write and read English.

  • Must have state drives licenses and an acceptable record.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.

  • Candidates must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance.
