A Brief Overview
Provides direct and indirect nursing care based on established patient care protocol and the nursing process. Coordinates with team members to provide a team-based approached to care. Hours and location may vary based on patient needs.
Essential Functions
Performs treatments, procedures, and medication / immunization administration in a professional and compassionate manner according to Children’s Physicians policy and procedures. • Completes an accurate assessment of physical, mental, emotional, developmental and social conditions when interviewing all patients and families in the office and on the telephone. • Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient /family, other physicians/hospitals and insurance providers as determined by the needs of the patient. • Coordinates, provides, and appropriately documents patient and family education. • Demonstrates knowledge of and provides care based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infants, toddlers, preschool, school age, and adolescents according to Children’s Physicians protocols • Completes all required patient care documentation in an accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record according to Children’s Physicians policy and procedures. • Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life-threatening emergencies • Directs other team members in the delivery of nursing care as determined by the needs of the office and the direction of the office manager or physicians. • Demonstrates proficiency and use of critical thinking skills when performing phone triage. • Fulfills expectation of complete and accurate phone documentation by utilizing EMR workflows as directed. Returns phone calls within determined response time ranges. • Maintain up to date knowledge and compliance with laboratory standards and guidelines as directed. • Promotes and encourages use of Children’s Connect by communicating with parents via online portal whenever feasible. • Takes ownership of quality metrics as a reflection of our commitment to continuously improving the quality of care for all patients. Works quality reports as directed, utilizing appropriate established workflows. • Maintains clean and professional appearance of exam rooms at all times. • Maintains supply and linen levels appropriately. • Attends required meetings and educational sessions as directed.

Education Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Required and
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing Preferred

Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience Required and

Skills and Abilities
Excellent skills in communication, listening, customer service, organization.
Excellent clinical skills providing direct and indirect nursing care in an office setting.
Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Ability to type, navigate an electronic system, and adapt to changes in workflows as they occur.
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of Nebraska Required or
RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure in the state of Iowa (if the incumbent works in Iowa) Required and
BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Required and
PEARS - Peds Emergency Assessment within 180 Days Required or
PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support if incumbent holds another position within Children's where PALS is required, PALS will be required in lieu of PEARS. If filled by a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Children’s is searching for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who delivers professional nursing care in the specialty clinics, within the scope of practice of an LPN, to pediatric patients using the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Contributes to the direct individualized age-specific patient/family assessments, according to defined nursing scope, hospital policies, protocols, and practice standards.
Adheres to hospital policies, protocols, and procedures. Provides individual patient cares according to the plan of care and provider orders. (*Individualized refers to the patient’s developmental, cognitive, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual and education/family influences and physician/ medical care needs.)
Contributes to the assessment of physical, mental, emotional, developmental, and social conditions of all patients/families.
Provides age-specific care and demonstrates competency in assessment of patients.
Contributes to establishing nursing diagnoses, which recognizes the needs of the patient through the identification of signs and symptoms.
Provides patient/family education and considers cultural, emotional, and social influences on the patient/family.
Performs treatments, procedures, medication administration, and other patient care in a safe, professional, and compassionate manner.
Promotes a team-based approach in the delivery of nursing care.
Sets and revises priorities based on patient care needs, patient/family/staff requests, other department demands/schedules, utilizing available resources as necessary.
Documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner on the appropriate forms and within the EMR.
Completes computerized documentation within established timeframes.
Documentation reflects assessment/evaluation, changes in condition, therapeutic interventions/procedures, and patient’s response to therapy or interventions.
Maintains environment of care for patient/family and department/clinic.
Ensures patient room environment provides comfort, cleanliness, safety of the patient/family throughout appointment.
Prepares room environment for next clinic visit.
Stocks clinic rooms with appropriate supplies as needed.
Maintains clinic department environment (i.e., keeping hallways clear of equipment/obstructions, maintaining patient medical records, stocking areas and clinic rooms, keeping work areas clear of clutter). Communicates clinic environment needs to clinic leadership.
Performs special tasks and procedures, within the scope of practice for an LPN, unique to department specific needs and within established protocols.
Communicates effectively through written documentation or verbally to appropriate individuals.
Contributes to the coordination of patient care to ensure continuity of care.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Performs other duties assigned.
Professionally seeks opportunities to help teammates during shift as needed.
Promptly initiates the chain of command appropriately as a patient advocate for patient care and system issues.
Identifies hazards and initiates corrective actions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure, and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate from an accredited school or university as an LPN required.
Previous pediatric nursing experience preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Current and valid LPN license for NE/IA depending on state of residency required.
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required.
Current and valid Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition & Stabilization (PEARS) required within 6-months of hire.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Travel to other Children’s Physician clinics, may be required based on staffing needs.

We’re searching for a Medical Assistant who is responsible for assisting the physician in caring for our patients and families in accordance with Children’s Physicians protocols, policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Assists in the assessment of the health status of individuals including the delivery of patient care to patients and families under the direction of RN or LPN.
Performs treatments, procedures, diagnostic testing and medication/immunization administration in a compassionate manner under the direction of a licensed practitioner.
Collects data regarding patient’s vital signs and growth and development when interviewing patients/families in the office.
Coordinates the scheduling of diagnostic tests and procedures with the patient/family, physicians/hospitals and the insurance companies as directed by the provider.
Assists the physician or pediatric nurse practitioner in patient teaching as directed or according to clinic protocol.
Demonstrates knowledge and provides care based on age-specific or developmental milestones for infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent according to protocol.
Completes all required patient care documentation and reporting in accurate and timely manner within the electronic medical record.
Responds appropriately in crisis situations or life threatening emergencies.
Takes direction from the physician or pediatric nurse practitioner in the delivery on patient care.
Assists with clerical duties as directed by the office manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or current and valid national certification as a Medical Assistant (NCMA) required
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required
Current and valid Medical Assistant (AAMA) certification preferred
Current and valid Medication Aide Registration with the Nebraska State Medication Aide Registry required, within 90 days of hire
