Burns & McDonnell Senior Transportation Planner (Kansas City) in Kansas City, Missouri

Description

The Senior Planner will contribute to the production and delivery of tasks and projects including management and training of staff. Lead a variety of projects, which may include corridor concept development, bicycle and pedestrian improvement development, multi-modal transportation analyses, traffic analyses, community planning efforts, zoning code development, and support public outreach and transit evaluation.

  • Lead analysis and planning activities ranging from small to large projects.

  • Quality review written reports and deliverables.

  • Manage relationships with existing clients, customers and contractors and develop new business opportunities.

  • Responsible for ensuring revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.

  • Manage sales and marketing efforts, identify, and manage key pursuits.

  • Manage the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to achieve stated targets and standards for financial performance.

  • Quality review and approve project budgets and cost estimates. Report project performance.

  • Responsible for QA/QC process adherence.

  • Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.

  • All other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Planning or related field. Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement.

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in planning.

  • AICP registration preferred.

  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of ESRI GIS applications preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Professional Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced attention to detail.
