Safety Manager (Kansas City, MO)

At Heubel Shaw, safety is our top priority. We are looking for a Safety Manager that is excited to build upon our foundation of safety to make it into a world class safety operation. The Safety Manager will support our 9 branch locations with emphasis on our field operations.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of the environmental, health and safety program including establishing goals, measuring performance, providing direction and encouragement as well as promoting accountability.
  • Conducts on-site safety visits in the branch facilities and in the field including vehicles, customer locations and perform accident investigations and ensure corrective action when required.
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts Safety training and orientation as well as evaluates the effectiveness of the training for company, customer, and government requirements.
  • Establishes safety metrics, evaluates, and analyzes accidents and injuries for prevention, and provides reports for tracking purposes as well as complete those required by law.
  • Evaluates and analyzes company safety data and review insurance company reports to determine critical safety areas and trends to prevent future incidents and provide relevant training.
  • Ensures timely investigations into work related incidents and ensures incidents are reported and corrective action has been identified and implemented.
  • Maintains existing and develop key safety programs and initiatives for our facilities, our Associates, our customers, and vendors to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local governmental authorities, including but not limited to, OSHA, Fire Departments, Department of Transportation, State OSHA, and other similar agencies.
  • Ensures compliance with customer safety regulations and completes contractor safety packages in a timely manner.
  • Leads the safety committee to promote the health and safety of our Associates, our facilities, and the environment.
  • Determines training needs, and selects, develops, and produces training materials for all positions.
  • Responsible for safety and security of our facilities to include Protégé (badge system), alarms, cameras and other related areas; will work closely with Purchasing Department.
  • All other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Business, Industrial Safety, Human Resources or other related field - Minimum of 5-years of experience in an industrial safety role or equivalent combinations of training and related experience - Working knowledge of OSHA Standards and ANSI standards - Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs - Must be able to climb ladders and/or work on elevated platforms that may be 15’ to 30’ in height
