Pharmaceutical Development Associate Scientist II

The Pharmaceutical Development Associate Scientist II supports formulation/process design and development of oral solid dosage forms. Participates/leads in clinical trial manufacturing endeavors and ensures that all work is carried out in compliance with regulatory requirements, good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Shift: New hire will train on 1st shift M-F 8AM-5PM and after 6-12 months move to 2nd shift 2PM-10PM

Location: Kansas City, MO

The Role:

• Execute laboratory work plan / schedule developed with input from supervisor or senior team member

• May draft technical documents such as batch records, technical reports and SXPs with supervisor guidance.

• Performs parallel review of manufacturing documentation and may become qualified to perform technical review of documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance; Trains others on basic laboratory techniques

• Assists in the execution of efficiency improvement project with guidance

• Maintain high quality laboratory documentation in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and Site SOPs

• Performs physical testing as needed; bulk/tap density, flow analysis (FT4) and sieve analysis; Executes procedures or methods of moderate complexity with high quality

• All other duties as assigned

The candidate:

• Bachelor's degree in related life science or physical science field required

• Chemistry or biology lab experience preferred

• Basic knowledge of the principles and concepts of pharmaceutics with mathematical and scientific reasoning ability; Basic understanding of equipment and instrument operations and troubleshooting skills in multiple techniques

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills with internal and external customers

• Understands cGMP’s and can work in GMP space with supervision

• Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, talking, writing, listening; Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
