Job Summary:
The Northeast Market Development Manager (MDM) is responsible for the growth of Xylem products in their vertical markets within a defined sales region. Works with Sales Management and Channel Partners (Distributors and Representatives) to achieve maximum market penetration and sales of Xylem products. This includes the Xylem pump brands of Goulds Water Technology and AC Fire. The employee will work closely with Channel Partners, Design Engineers, OEM's (Original Equipment Manufacturers), and End Users (at times) to grow Pump, Motor, and Monitoring & Control sales. A comprehensive understanding of all pump markets within the region is desired. MDM will also provide Information and assistance to the Product Development and Marketing teams on new product launches and for market information.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
• Develop a Business Plan with each significant Channel Partner to develop Sales Goals which include target accounts, perspective OEM’s, and a focus on growth in their Major Trade Area.
• Deliver orders and sales targets corresponding with Sales Territory targets.
• Work with Channel Partners to increase Sales & Market Share of products in territory and region.
• Open new or remove existing Channel Partners where and when necessary.
• Travel with Channel Partner personnel in order to train and focus them on growth of Xylem Product Sales along with strengthening relationships and loyalty.
• Maintain Large Project funnel with coordination and updates to and from channels via Salesforce CRM.
• Assist Marketing in defining new Markets and Product Opportunities.
• Assist Channel Partners in selecting the right products to deliver a total solution utilizing computer sizing and selection programs as required.
• Keep Management advised of competitors’ activities in Territory / Region.
• Make prospecting calls to End Customers, Channel Partners, OEMs and Design Engineering firms according to the Master Sales Plan.
• Attend appropriate Trade Shows and related events to expand market knowledge of products and trends within the industry.

• External: With Channel Partners and their customers. (End Users/Engineers/Contractors)
• Internal: Direct Management, Sales Teams within your brand, Sales Teams in other Xylem Divisions, Customer Service, Product Management, and Marketing.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree or Preferred B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or the Sciences
• Minimum of 4 Years Field Technical Sales Experience, preferably in Pump Hydraulics.
• Channel Management Experience Required
• Good communication, organization skills
• Thorough knowledge of consultative/value based selling.
• Leadership Managerial Competencies
• Computer and business software savvy (Excel/Outlook/Powerpoint)
• Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
• Superior Oral & Written Communication
Preferred Qualifications:
• Outside Sales Experience that has included travel and technical sales within the Pump Industry, particularly in the Industrial, Residential, and/or Municipal markets.
• Knowledge of Salesforce CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool.
Additional Information:
Physical Demands
• Light lifting, office environment with Laptop computer and printer.
• Must occasionally lift/ transport up to 25 pounds, especially during Tradeshow booth set up and product demonstrations.
Work Environment
• In Home Office: Standard office equipment, working remotely, and usually performed in an office setting free from any disagreeable elements.
• While Traveling: Potential for long hours of sitting while traveling in company supplied vehicle or during Air Travel where required depending on Geography of Sales Territory.
• Overnight hotel stays while traveling.
• Standard weekly job hours: 40 Travel requirement:
• Travel as required but typically 50% (60-75 Nights annually)
• Overnights will be required at times depending on Geography of Sales Territory.
Salary range:
$72,300.00 - $130,100.00
