Job Summary and Qualifications

The Expressive Therapist provides the core of programming by facilitating therapeutic individual and group sessions offered to the patients. The Expressive Therapist’s responsibilities in the following area includes: individual/group sessions daily focusing on coping skills, socialization, and activities.

Qualifications needed:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy or Music Therapy

• Master’s degree in Art Therapy required

• Certification as specified below:

• Music Therapist:

• Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)—passed the national board certification exam

• Art Therapist:

• Registered Art Therapist (ART)

• Art Therapist Registered-Board Certified (ART-BC)

• Licensed Professional Art Therapist

• Recreational Therapist:

• Therapeutic Recreation Certification

• National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC)

• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
