This fully remote opportunity allows you the flexibility to work from home in support of Epsilon’s USDA DISC Customer.
Our Customer’s Mission :
The USDA Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC) operates 24/7/365 to provide comprehensive on premises and cloud-based hosting services, including Disaster Recovery, security, and professional support services and operations to approximately 35 federal organizations. The USDA and other Federal partners depend upon DISC’s highly complex and interconnected technology infrastructure to conduct their operations. To better support this mission, DISC is modernizing their technology by transitioning to a continuous integration, deployment, and code-based organization.
An average day:
As Database Administration Services | MS SQL, you will play a critical role in providing project engineering and incident management solutions for our clients. This position will communicate with stakeholders and customers to ensure that design specifications are met. This role will also troubleshoot and diagnosis issues as they arise and implement solutions. In this position you will:
Manage AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, or similar cloud-based database services (SQL or NoSQL)
Install, configure, manage, and troubleshoot Microsoft SQL (preferred), AWS/Azure-hosted databases or Postgres, Oracle, MySQL within Windows and Linux virtual server environments.
Lead efforts to automate database administration tasks, utilizing client-provided automation tools and cloud-native capabilities.
Monitor and respond to Incident and Service Request queues, performing work according to client requirements and SLAs.
Design database solutions based on client requirements, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance.
Provide 24x7/365 remote support services response as needed.
Support automating tasks using client automation tools.
Maintain and contribute to enterprise source code and configuration (git) repositories.
Review vulnerability reports and make necessary changes to client/customer environments to remediate per client policy.
Monitor Incident and Service Request queue and perform work per customer/client requirements in the timeframe requested.
Adhere to ITIL-based Incident and Change Management processes for all activities performed on behalf of customers.
Design solutions based on customer requirements.
Create high-level task lists to implement customer designs.
Communicate and report on tasks associated with customer implementation projects.
Participate in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.
Basic Qualifications:
As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a database administrator/engineer, with at least 3 years working specifically with Microsoft SQL (preferred), MySQL, Postgres, or other major relational databases.
Experience with AWS and Azure databases (RDS, Azure SQL Database, NoSQL offerings) is a plus.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines and levels of priority effectively and efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to lead the analysis and resolution of database-related issues, including escalation to the appropriate level when necessary.
Comfortable working in dynamic environments and adapting to change, given the evolving nature of cloud and database technology.
Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. All contractor employees must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
Contractor personnel performing in a leadership capacity shall be capable of directing contractor personnel and interfacing with the Government and customers.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter expertise to management and others.
DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices. It is important for the employees to demonstrate experience based on ITIL framework:
ITIL v4 foundation knowledge
Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.
Skills that will be used in this role:
Microsoft SQL (preferred)
Familiarity with AWS and Azure cloud-native database solutions, including RDS, DynamoDB, and Azure Cosmos DB
Postgres
Oracle
MySQL
DB2 on Windows/Linux
