Job Description Summary:
The Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Medical Informatics in the Department of Internal Medicine will develop informatics approaches to further research in Medical Informatics, Sleep Medicine, Physical Activity and Weight Management, Nephrology, and Endocrinology by conducting and providing biostatistical support to research-intensive programs within the various areas of the Department.
Job Description:
Job Duties
- Conduct and provide biostatistical support to research-intensive programs within various areas of the Department of Internal Medicine.
- Pursue collaborations that will support a research program with extramural funding.
- Publish research in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and present in local, national, and international conferences.
- Provide collaborative research support related to the development of data analysis solutions with KUMC researchers and affiliates.
- Participate in training and education of graduate/doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows in research settings and in formal and informal group education formats.
- Contribute to committees at the University level that support research and teaching mission.

Required Qualifications
Education: Ph.D. in Biomedical Informatics, Biostatistics, Data Science or related fields.
Work Experience: Research experience in data science with clinical, research, or medical administrative systems as demonstrated by a record of peer-reviewed publications and funding.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Experience in conventional and advanced statistical methods.
- Experience in working with large clinical datasets.
- High level proficiency, experience, and working knowledge of R, SAS, and STATA.
- Efficiency in the use of Microsoft Office tools.
- Established research, teaching, service, and extra-mural funding track record.

- Superior interpersonal and communications skills as demonstrated by excellence in speaking, writing and listening.
- Ability to effectively communicate statistical methods and results.

The Division of Medical Informatics is proud to provide informatics expertise and training to support clinical and translational researchers from multiple disciplines and health professionals at KUMC, affiliated organizations and external partner organizations. The biomedical informatics methods and tools we have developed allow our research collaborators to store, integrate, query, analyze, and visualize complex data sets.
