Medical Lab Technician salary range: $19.71-30.28/hr
Lead Medical Lab Technician Range: $22.94 - $34.48/hr
Medical Laboratory Scientist salary range: $24.74-34.48/hr
In this role, you will engage in the accurate performance of lab testing to diagnose, treat, and evaluate patients that leads to our quality patient care outcomes.
Testing
Process specimens for analysis.
Meet established testing protocols for precision, accuracy, and timeliness
Recognize critical, abnormal and unacceptable test results and follows-up according to established protocols and factors that affect measurements and results to initiate the necessary solution.
Identify problems with instrumentation, methodology, specimens, supplies, or results and act as outlined in predetermined protocols.
Engage in test development and methodology/equipment evaluation, selection, and implementation.
Organization and Maintenance
Perform and document quality control according to established protocols.
Inform supervisors or pathologists of any incidents.
Operate and maintain equipment and perform minor repairs.
Enter patient demographic and test information into the information system.
Honor patient confidentiality.
Monitor and maintain supplies.
Knowledge
Assist with training and orienting new employees, students and residents.
Create a safe work environment by following all biohazard, chemical, and sharps safety guidelines.
Adhere to laboratory and hospital policies, procedures, methods, quality assurance, proficiency testing, and personnel policies.
Follow procedures for the collection and processing of specimens for analysis including the appropriateness and stability of the sample.
Communication
Engage with laboratory and hospital customers & peers professionally, courteously, and timely.
Demonstrate dependability, reliability, and independent judgment.
Title and salary will be determined based upon education and experience.
Medical Laboratory Scientist:
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of a CAHEA accreditedMedical Lab Scientist program OR
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP or equivalent categorical or MLT certification OR
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
Medical Lab Technician:
Associate's degree in a laboratory science with certification (or eligible new graduate) from an accredited institution as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) OR
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with 6 months of clinical laboratory experience OR
Equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA '88 for individuals performing high complexity testing
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ASCP Certifications Preferred:
Medical Technologist MT(ASCP),
Medical Laboratory Scientist MLS (ASCP),
Medical Laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP),
Clinical Laboratory Assistant (CLA),
or equivalent ASCP Certification.
