Logan Health RN S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) | PRN status in Kalispell, Montana

Job Description Summary:

Logan Health is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.) to join our dedicated team on a PRN schedule. In this critical role, you will provide medical care, forensic evidence collection, and emotional support to survivors of sexual assault, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. You will collaborate with law enforcement and healthcare providers to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Position Details

  • Schedule:

  • Minimum of 96 hours of on-call shifts per month (50% night shifts required).

  • On-call shifts are 12 hours:

  • 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

  • 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

  • At least one full weekend on-call per month. Weekend shifts run from Friday at 7:00 AM (or the end of a Friday day shift) to Monday at 7:00 AM (or the start of a Monday day shift, if scheduled).

  • Team Engagement:

  • Attendance at S.A.N.E. staff meetings and team activities monthly (minimum 75% attendance required).

    Qualifications:

  • Current Montana RN license or a multi state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within the state of Montana; required. BSN degree preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience (ER or OB experience preferred).

  • Completion of IAFN (International Association of Forensic Nurses) approved 40 hour Adult/Adolescent SANE didactic Training Course (preferred NOT required).

  • Completion of IAFN (International Association of Forensic Nurses) 42 hour Pediatric SANE didactic training course (preferred NOT required)

    Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of confidentiality laws, including HIPAA.

  • Proficient in medical terminology, nursing theory, and infection control procedures.

  • Skilled in documentation, patient education, and evidence-based nursing practices.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism and diplomacy.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn other software as needed.

    S.A.N.E. RN - Job-Specific Duties

  • Complete the Adult/Adolescent S.A.N.E. course (approx. 40 hours) within one month of hire.

  • Attend supplemental in-person training with the S.A.N.E. coordinator.

  • Complete Pediatric S.A.N.E. training (approx. 42 hours) within two years of hire.

  • Participate in peer review and present forensic cases as needed.

  • Precept new S.A.N.E. nurses when independently functioning in the role.

    General Nursing Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate goal-directed nursing care for patients.

  • Respond to changing workloads and patient conditions calmly and effectively.

  • Provide individual instruction and education to patients and families.

  • Document all patient interactions according to organizational standards.

  • Maintain infection control procedures and nursing care standards.

Schedule:

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
