Job Description Summary:
Are you a detail-oriented, organized professional with a passion for supporting patient care? Logan Health is looking for a dynamic Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to join our Pre-Anesthesia Clinic team!
Join Our Team! As the HUC, you'll play a critical role in coordinating administrative support and preparing essential documentation, ensuring every patient's journey to surgery is seamless and well-prepared.
Key Responsibilities:
Create & Maintain Patient Charts: Assemble, print, and manage patient charts and medical records for pre-surgery preparation.
Schedule Appointments: Coordinate in-person visits and manage referrals from clinics, ensuring patients receive timely care.
Regulatory Compliance: Work closely with the healthcare team to maintain compliance with Medicare and all regulatory standards.
Office Management: Order and maintain supplies, keep records organized, and respond efficiently to the changing demands of patient care.
Qualifications:
Educational Background: Vocational training or post-high school education in healthcare preferred; other relevant experience considered.
Experience: At least one (1) year in a healthcare setting preferred.
Skill Set: Strong organizational, critical thinking, and communication skills are a must! Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with EMR systems preferred.
Medical Knowledge: Understanding of medical terminology preferred. Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain it within 3 months of hire.
Team Player: Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.

Additional Qualifications:
Post high school education or vocational training in healthcare preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum of one (1) year previous healthcare experience preferred.
Knowledge of record keeping, documentation, filing, and basic office procedures required.
Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification preferred or must successful obtain within three (3) months of hire.
Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed. Previous experience with electronic medical record (EMR) programs preferred.
Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Job Specific Duties:
Performs administrative and technical skills in an organized and accurate manner according to Logan Health (LH) policies and procedures.
Enters provider orders in the house wide computer system and completes essential administrative patient care functions.
Works with the healthcare team to set and maintain patient care and work priorities while responding to a changing workload. Adheres and upholds all LH customer service policies and standards while caring for patients and interacting with others.
Exhibits cost containment with all resources. Orders and maintains office supplies.

Schedule:
Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
