The Engineering Project Manager will oversee all phases of capital project management, from conceptual estimate to equipment fabrication, construction, commissioning, validation, start-up, and close-out. Responsibilities include project scope, financial spending forecasting, and schedule development, while ensuring compliance with all user codes. This role involves presenting key project deliverables and scope to senior leadership for approvals and updates.

Responsibilities

  • Develop preliminary budgets and schedules for assigned projects.

  • Work closely with project sponsors and stakeholders to prepare Capital Project Appropriation requests (CPAs), including project description, justification, cost estimates, budget, schedule, and analysis of alternatives.

  • Develop Request for Proposal documents for design services, construction services, and major equipment items as appropriate.

  • Develop Capital and Expense budget requests for future projects during the annual budget cycle.

  • Arrange training for maintenance and operating personnel, and distribute all appropriate testing, certification, validation, 'as-built,' spare parts, operating, or maintenance manual documentation and drawings.

  • Manage and coordinate successful implementation of assigned projects with site customers and subject matter experts.

  • Administer, resolve, and control all design, construction, contractual, and financial issues on assigned projects.

  • Complete assigned projects by starting up and checking out all new equipment and systems, inspecting construction, and ensuring complete resolution of 'punch list' items.

  • Ensure frequent communication and conduct regularly scheduled meetings between the Project Team and other stakeholders.

  • Ensure that all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements are met on assigned projects.

  • Generate requests for proposals for purchased equipment and services as necessary.

  • Lead the process of developing User Requirement Specifications for equipment and services.

  • Procure, track, and close out project equipment and services purchases.

  • Provide or arrange for the development of complete design documentation for assigned projects.

  • Prepare documentation necessary for project approvals.

  • Generate change control documentation as required by project commissioning needs.

  • Provide qualification documentation for assigned projects as applicable.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical).

  • Project Management or engineering experience as a lead, with full cycle project management from concepting, scoping, budgeting, PO acceptance, through completion.

  • 5+ years' experience working on Aseptic Filling processes.

  • Experience in Project Management Systems - PowerPoint, MS Project, Microsoft Project Online.

  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with freeze-drying processes.

  • PMP or PE license.

  • Master's Degree.

Work Environment

This role supports projects in Portage and Kalamazoo, including 2 manufacturing facilities and 1 lab facility. The typical work week is 40 hours, with potential overtime. This is a 12-month project with the possibility of extension. The position offers access to Udemy courses after 6 months, standard holidays, and 10 days of PTO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $80.00/hr.
