Kalamazoo County Government Pretrial Services Officer in Kalamazoo, Michigan
GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to investigate and assesses recently arrested felony and misdemeanor offenders. Prepares bond recommendations for judicial officers. Assists defendants/offenders with the location of social services. Prepares and administers case management plans. Ensures compliance with release conditions, including court-ordered pretrial supervision such as GPS locations and alcohol monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures defendants/offenders comply with release conditions set by the court; responds to emergency situations off-hours as needed.
- Monitors defendants/offenders referred for court ordered pretrial supervision, which may include Global Positioning System [GPS] Tether equipment and Alcohol Monitoring equipment.
- Directs defendants/offenders to individualized services for support.
- Prepares timely investigative and compliance reports; submits supplemental status reports and arrest notices to the court for review.
- Utilizes a risk assessment tool on the defendant/offender to determine threats to public safety, flight risk, supervision eligibility, and assignment of supervision levels.
- Collects, compiles, and reports statistics.
- Collects and accounts for program fees; maintains accurate account balances.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Corrections, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience in the criminal justice system
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
