What Transportation contributes to Cardinal Health
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.
Transportation is responsible for the movement of materials and products between suppliers, manufacturing, warehousing and the customer. Management of transportation assets and systems to gain greater service, cost efficiency and optimization of processes.
Job Summary
The Transportation Supervisor oversees the Courier (Same Day and Regional Next Day) group of the Logistics Operations team in OptiFreight™ Logistics. The main function of this team is to design, implement, operate, and manage comprehensive logistics solutions for healthcare systems and related customer organizations. The Supervisor plays a key role in leading front-line team members that are directly supporting customers, shippers, and carriers.
Responsibilities
Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of a team to successfully perform comprehensive logistics services that satisfies customer’s needs
Proactively resolves field service issues by working with customers, transportation service providers, and internal stakeholders
Plans and executes training and development for direct reports in topics such as service lines, processes, technology tools, and other applicable skills
Own optimizing processes, automating where possible, and attracting, retaining and developing excellent talent to best serve our customers and business.
Completes regular touch base and performance discussions with team members
Supports the resolution of escalated customer needs
Participates in process development and improvement activities
Coordinates the update, review, and report out of metrics and key performance indicators for the team
Tracks and reviews service issues at a customer, supplier, and carrier level to ensure appropriate root cause analysis is completed and preventive actions are implemented
Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned

M-F 8:00 am-5:00 pm EST
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
3+ years of relevant work experience preferred
Prior leadership experience preferred
Process oriented approach with a focus on continuous improvement
Customer first mindset
Ability to engage in effective coaching sessions with team members and willingness to have difficult conversations
Experience in root cause problem solving and mitigating future issues
Ability to lead and motivate teams through change
Flexible and responsive attitude capable of managing multiple, shifting priorities
Ability to manage and prioritize projects while leading cross functional teams and stakeholders
Strong inter-personal and relationship building skills; able to build relationships at all levels in an organization
Must display a high level of organization skills and the ability to work independently
Prior experience utilizing a Transportation Management System (TMS) preferred
Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Anticipated salary range: $66,500-$99,645
