What Strategic Sourcing - Global Products contributes to Cardinal Health

Global Sourcing is responsible for creating and managing diverse strategic supplier partnerships that drive enterprise value with innovation, best cost and competitive advantages that benefit customers, suppliers and patients. Develops and executes strategic plans by leveraging market intelligence, industry knowledge and cross-functional collaboration. Competitive advantage is created through supplier selection and management, contract negotiation, supply chain optimization and risk mitigation.

Strategic Sourcing Global Products is responsible for managing a portfolio of Cardinal Brand products, raw materials, spend and suppliers. Development and execution of global sourcing strategies to achieve best total value, sustainable productivity and high levels of quality and service aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supplier Disengagement: Manage supplier exit processes, ensuring smooth transitions while mitigating risks to operations and supply continuity.

  • RFP Management: Develop, issue, and evaluate Requests for Proposal (RFPs) to identify and secure the best supplier partners for business needs.

  • Pricing Updates: Monitor market trends, validate pricing changes, and update internal systems to reflect accurate supplier pricing information.

  • Supplier Evaluation: Assess supplier performance using defined metrics, including quality, delivery, cost, and compliance. Support regular performance reviews to drive improvements.

  • Project Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute sourcing and supplier transition projects, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.

  • Category Support: Assist in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that align with organizational goals for cost savings, operational efficiency, and quality improvement.

  • Data Analysis: Analyze procurement data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost reduction or process improvements.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with internal stakeholders, such as marketing, planning, operations and quality teams, to address sourcing needs and resolve supplier-related issues.

  • Contract Support: Support negotiations and ensure contracts are accurately documented and maintained.

  • Compliance and Risk Mitigation: Ensure sourcing activities comply with company policies, healthcare regulations, and sustainability goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement, direct sourcing, or supply chain roles, preferably in the healthcare or medical devices industry.

  • Familiarity with RFP processes, supplier disengagement, and pricing updates.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data for decision-making.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with internal stakeholders and suppliers effectively.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

  • Experience in Sharps Safety and Drapes & Gowns categories or healthcare consumables.

  • Knowledge of supplier evaluation frameworks and performance metrics.

  • Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CPSM, CSCP).

Anticipated salary range : $79,700 - $113,800
