Position Summary:
The Project Director is responsible for the overall management, design, supervision and evaluation of the project. The Director has primary responsibility for informing the campus and community of SSS’ goals and achievements, coordinating project activities with the institution, and reporting to A-State and the U.S. Department of Education. The Director is 100% time for 12 months.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Administer the budget, approve expenditures, monitor line items and reconcile with Sponsored Programs Office.
Develop, implement and monitor administrative and professional policies, procedures and standards for the project
Prepare Annual Performance Reports to the Department of Education, ASU
Assist with planning and implementation of Summer Bridge Program
Plan and facilitate weekly staff meetings.
Oversee the awarding of Grant Aid, complying with Federal Regulations.
Entering relevant data into Student Access
Evaluate the Effectiveness of the project and its services
Inform academic, administrative and service units at ASU of SSS objectives, services and procedures
Design, supervise and coordinate all project components
Advertise, interview, hire, train, supervise and evaluate employees
Maintain student tracking database, including utilizing the National Clearinghouse database for student follow up
Compose and distribute press releases
Document and review the effect of project activities on participant performance and academic progress
Maintain a close liaison with campus programs and community agencies who assist in student referrals and monitoring, and mentoring
Direct the development of proposals for federal funding
Prepare database reports for the U.S. Department of Education and ASU
Oversee and administer career/graduate school education and service component of the program
Oversee participant assessment, monitoring and implementation of services and activities
Serve as SSS liaison to all campus units and departments offering services which are utilized by SSS participants
Other duties as needed
The Director has daily contact with the Academic Advisor, Tutor Coordinator/Program Assistant, and Technology Assistant and has frequent contact with SSS tutors and participants. The Director also reports to the Dean of University College.
Participation in state and regional organizations is encouraged. Travel to state, regional, and national conferences for the purpose of professional development is encouraged.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of budget making and monitoring.
Ability to communicate (both orally and in writing) with a wide range of people at various levels of responsibility
Proven organizational skills
General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Preferred Qualifications:
Counseling license or licensable
Experience working with students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students.
Grant writing experience
Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Master's degree in education, student personnel, counseling, psychology, communication studies, public administration, social work, or related field
Required experience includes: a) experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating educational services; b) supervisory experience and demonstrated organizational skills; c) ability to relate to individuals at various levels of responsibility; d) commitment to the goals and objectives of the project and to the A-State mission.
One (1) year experience designing, managing or implementing a TRIO or similar program for disadvantaged students
One (1) year experience in educational setting
At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
