Job Description

We are looking to hire a Sr. Project Cost Analyst to coordinate project cost analysis and controls for team activities supporting Project Managers (PMs) and other staff. This role involves overseeing cost reporting for multiple projects and monitoring project budgets to ensure accurate depiction of project costs on large and complex projects with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include input of budgets within the corporate systems, providing ongoing forecast updates, variance analysis, and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs). The role requires collaboration with project teams to implement best practices throughout the project lifecycle and communication with internal and external customers. Additionally, the position involves developing and conducting training, leading continuous process improvement efforts, and developing tools and processes utilized.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project meetings and work activities, supporting PMs in preparing and updating project documentation and planning.

  • Prepare forecasts of project spending and cash flows, monitor budget variances, and track/analyze costs.

  • Provide analysis and verification for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) activities and assist with annual budget capital forecasts, five-year plans, and improvement requisitions.

  • Perform estimate vs. actuals analysis.

  • Collaborate with PMs and other stakeholders to perform variance reporting and establish original baseline budgets.

  • Create project breakdown structures.

  • Perform departmental organizational functions to ensure smooth project operations, including tracking and verifying unvouchered liabilities and coordinating the work order process.

  • Assist in the construction contracting process.

  • Communicate with project team resources and other stakeholders on budgetary items.

  • Work independently to resolve moderately complex problems using technical knowledge and analytical techniques.

  • Develop and compile measurable KPIs.

  • Provide strong teamwork with colleagues, vendors, and customers, and respond to inquiries and resolve work order issues.

  • Lead the administration of project/work management organizational standards and assist in managing projects to those standards.

  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees and mentor them as needed.

  • Recommend improvements to enhance project performance and service/product delivery.

  • Advise and counsel key contractors, vendors, and less experienced team members on project performance-related data integration.

Essential Skills

  • Proficient in use of computer and MS Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Experience in cost tracking, analysis, forecasting, and project budget management.

  • Knowledge of accounting principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field with four years of qualified experience, or an Associate's degree with six years of qualified experience.

  • Utility-specific operations knowledge and experience.

  • Experience with corporate accounting and project cost management systems, construction environments, earned value management, and scheduling systems.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, demonstrate organizational skills, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Ability to interface and work well with various levels of individual contributors and management.

  • Strong culture skills.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $41.00/hr.
