The Opportunity
This position works out of our offices in Woodmead office park in the Rapid Diagnostics division. In this division our rapid diagnostics solutions are helping address some of the world’s greatest healthcare challenges. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories and clinics around the globe.
The Transformation and business affairs specialist, responsible for all implementation and compliance to all legislative policy relating to BBBEE, Employment equity and advocacy of strategy and execution for Abbott’s business within the country.
What You’ll Do:
Employment Equity
Define, own and lead the Employment Equity imperatives in close partnership and collaboration with Directors, Management and HR Practitioner in line with overall group EE Strategy.
EE related consultations and implementation initiatives to drive and support attainment of EE Strategy and Targets.
Register legislated forum meetings: Preparation of EE reports in EEA formats including leading meetings of annual EE Annual submissions with Skills Development Manager, HR Managers and HR Director.Perform operational duties to fulfil EEA requirements of reporting, analysis, insights, and Functional Targets.Continuously review and improve our EE processes by undertaking regular reviews and assisting in reviews, administrative systems, and procedures.Ensure the accuracy of information by regularly conducting checks and sample audits as appropriate.
Custodianship of EE data in accordance with the EEA.Tracking employee movements and workplace profile statistics.Ensuring reconciliation of data with various systems for accuracy
BBBEE
Interpret and comply to BBBEE related legislation –relating to BBBEE commitments ·
Develop an implementation plan and associated policy /procedure for all BBBEE monitoring
Liaise with the relevant stakeholders to address compliance indicators:
BBEE suppliers.
Auditing /Monitoring of all BBBEE projects
Provide BBBEE status of all projects monthly (tracking progress and actions to address gaps)
Provide quality feedback and monthly reports to the local and Regional BAC
Facilitate and deliver BBBEE presentations and workshops to Management /External stakeholders.
Coordinate and develop viable strategic BBBEE solutions and related activities including NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL PARTICATION PROGRAMME for all pillars -Ownership, Preferential procurement, Employment Equity, Skills
Development, Social Economic Development and Enterprise Development
Ensure achievement of the agreed BBBEE targets (Project specific targets)..
Identify what projects qualify under Codes of Good Practice and Interpretative Guide which will allow improvement to the Empowerment Scorecard.
Developing effective internal and external stakeholder communication processes that specify the current and expected status of the organizations BBBEE strategy.
Perform all functions in a capacity of Skills Development Facilitator as per legislation.
Business Affairs and Policy Country responsibility:
Forward looking opportunity and risk assessment of the business in relation to all legislative framework current
and proposed.
Business Affairs strategic plan and implementation of all divisional operational activities related to government
effects on policies to achieve desired outcomes.
Anticipate and predict changes in the external legislative, regulatory, policy and political environments in South Africa in the short, mid and long term
Identify company opportunity and risk in the government legislative, regulatory, policy and political realms in SA.
Analyze the potential impacts of government action, both offensively and defensively, to the business (operational
and strategic)
Recommend company positioning, priorities, internal and external strategy, and tactics to the Business Leaders
Execute company strategy and influence the legislation, regulation and policy in support of the company Represent Abbott Laboratories with external stakeholders, including senior government officials of SA. Serve as primary liaison to all relevant trade associations in SA, ensuring coordination alignment on policy and
advocacy matters.
Ensure that the company is compliant with all local laws associated with interactions with government officials.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in HR, Business Relations or Related
Preferred Experience
5 to 7 years’ experience of working on legislative and regulatory processes, proven track record of successful advocacy on BBBEE and Employment Equity
Full understanding of the BBBEE, Employment Equity and related Acts as well as government strategies
Experience with HR Policies and Skills development strategies
Significant business and stakeholder relationship experience
Experience working in a large, global corporation with a matrix organization
Preference given to individuals with current, established relationships with government officials, agency heads and policymakers in Country
