Job Summary

In this position, you will apply your technical expertise throughout the software development lifecycle and engage with various technical and business stakeholders. You will address the needs of multiple stakeholders and assist senior staff on complex projects by leveraging data, analysis, software experience, judgement, and risk assessment skills.

As a software engineer within the IT Application Service team, you will be part of a dynamic engineering group tasked with delivering high-quality software solutions. Your responsibilities will include conducting feasibility studies for product features and business requirements, supporting the software development process through its entirety, and ensuring that engineering activities are aligned with project methodologies.

Major Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications, infrastructure, and platforms according to evolving requirements and established processes.

  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code following best practices.

  • Develop and maintain web applications integrated with databases.

  • Participate in all phases of the software engineering lifecycle and troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Implement and maintain business applications and reports, ensuring high-quality service delivery and alignment with departmental and organizational goals.

  • Learn and adapt to new technologies, contributing to design, coding, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and related activities.

  • Organize and communicate work assignments for key technical projects using JIRA.

  • Conduct peer code reviews and provide constructive feedback.

  • Adhere to technology best practices and encourage continuous improvement.

  • Perform ongoing system and application administration duties.

  • Diagnose and resolve production issues through root cause analysis.

  • Provide Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to Level 1 teams, track issues, collaborate with vendors, and ensure timely issue resolution.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including business partners, vendors, counterparties, and other IT teams.

  • Collaborate on system vulnerability remediation and address end-of-life (EOL) issues.

  • Quickly earn trust from sponsors and stakeholders; independently learn from documentation and execute tasks with minimal guidance and ambiguity.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Experience on developing/working at all phases of the application development and support

  • 2+ years of programming experience as developer in Java

  • Experience developing at all levels of the application stack (front end/UI, middle/services and back end/database)

  • Experience with Java, Java Spring frameworks, and Python

  • Experience implementing and maintaining RESTful APIs

  • Experience of API services, including knowledge of REST, SOAP, JSON

  • Experience in UNIX, Autosys, Shell scripting, Jira, Azure DevOps

  • Strong programming skills in Java using object-oriented principles

  • Development experience with RDBMS based databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, including stored procedures, database triggers

  • Knowledge of best practices regarding remediation of Application Security and Software Vulnerabilities

  • Effective verbal and written communicator; able to present complex issues and solutions with appropriate levels of detail to diverse (technical and non-technical) audiences

  • Must possess organizational, problem-solving and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments

  • Excellent communication skills and flexible and adaptable to new environments

  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, products and businesses process

  • Ability to independently manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks, projects and responsibilities

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $85K - $121K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
