JPMorgan Chase Global Clearing Control Manager - Vice President in Jersey City, New Jersey

Global Clearing is the preeminent clearer of USD, EUR, and GBP, globally. in addition to being the largest USD clearer. Control managers (1 st line of defense) are responsible for partnering with Payments business leaders to identify and assess existing and emerging operational risks, to design suitable solutions for mitigating risks that align with product strategy. The Payments Controls team is seeking a Vice President level candidate who will support the Global Clearing team responsible for ensuring a robust controls environment as the Global Clearing team continues to develop innovative products and platforms. The candidate will also be responsible for leading governance and control forums, managing relationships with the 2 nd and 3 rd lines of defense and participating in regulatory engagements.

The successful candidate will be expected to implement Payments end-to-end target operating model and to become a trusted advisor for the leads of the business. This is a high visibility role which will require outstanding communication skills, project management discipline and a strategic risk assessment mindset to quickly grasp the risks associated with innovative product offerings. This role is ideal for self-motivated individuals who perform well in fast-paced environments and have a delivery mindset.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Refining and establishing governance and systems that identify, quantify, manage and monitor risk

  • In consultation with the business and relevant partner, establish risk tolerances and risk management procedures as well as tools

  • Be an advisor to the business leads on mitigation of emerging risks with the product or with new initiatives.

  • Drive and lead oversight of the end-to-end system of controls that mitigates risk through active engagement, thematic reviews, risk analysis and control deep dive which continuously manage and reduce the Business's residual risk profile

  • Deliver high quality, consistent and meaningful executive reporting and analytics to identify trends and themes to support business decisions

  • Create and deliver executive communications, status reporting, and metrics.

  • Manage regulatory exams and audits impacting Global Clearing

  • Chairing the Control Forums and attending other regional and governance forums

  • Ensure timely testing of the existing control framework

Qualifications:

  • Extensive relevant industry experience in the financial industry along with deep knowledge of Payments and Clearing, ideally coupled with the right risk and control mindset and strategic, operations and technology experience

  • Ability to influence outcomes and get the best from people, even where no direct line management responsibility exists

  • An outstanding ability to analyze problems, apply quantitative analytical approaches, communicate effectively and confidently (both oral and written), work well in cross-functional teams

  • Solution oriented, leveraging a network to identify solutions and implement them

  • Self-starter, proactive in taking initiative to improve business processes

  • Excellent quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Technical and analytical skills / data manipulation

  • Effective change management and transformation experience; ability to connect with teams to influence current state mindset, help them adapt to a changing environment

  • Experience working with geographically distributed and culturally diverse workgroups

  • Ability to develop strong partnerships across lines of business to achieve goals

  • Proven ability to achieve quality results in a rapidly changing environment requiring flexibility / adaptability to changing directives
