Job Overview:
The Data Analyst is responsible for working with all clinical departments and all levels of staff (from senior leadership to front line) to identify key quality and safety metrics within their area of responsibility, to format and set up scorecards and charts for reporting and analyzing data, to assist in data mining and completion of all data dictionaries and the maintenance of current data for the purposes of data analysis either within the QRS department or in support of external department within the facility for the purposes of Quality, Patient Safety, Performance Improvement or Patient Experience projects. The Data Analyst provides one to one coaching to all departments on using their data for improvement, including how to analyze data, read and interpret charts and how to use data to determine improvement opportunities and for process. The Data Analyst supports all JCMC required data submission, tracking, monitoring and compliance activities for the Value Based purchasing initiatives, Leapfrog, NHSN, NDNQI and Press Ganey/Patient Experience other activities. The Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining all electronic databases supported by QRS. The Data Analyst supports the PI Process, including use of Visio and Excel to create Flowcharts, Control Charts and Pareto Analysis and takes a lead role preparing the organization and/or QRS Department for quality and safety activities such as the annual Quality Fair and the Patient Safety Fair.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor s degree in Mathematics, Statistics. Healthcare or Business Administration or related field.
At least one year of work experience in an Acute Care Hospital setting
Computer Certification(s)
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with emphasis on Excel (including graphs e.g., line, pareto, and control graphs)
Strong working knowledge of Visio
Strong working knowledge of data mining from HBI and Nuance
Ability to manipulate databases
Ability to work independently
Excellent problem solving, planning and organizational abilities Detail oriented with attention to follow-up
Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Preferred:

Essential Functions:
Completion and ongoing maintenance of all hospital required system level quality/safety reporting initiatives
Owns all hospital specific requirements for data submission, tracking, monitoring and compliance for Value Based purchasing, System Level Scorecards, Core Measure Reporting, NHSN, NDNQI
Provides data support to all JCMC reporting initiatives/programs
Responding to all system level requests for information and data
Work with IT&S and data owners to ensure that data is appropriate for the proposed use and that the data structures and sources will support the needs of all involved. Consults with others to assess data processing needs. Oversees computer system operations for department; directs and assists staff in identification and resolution of problems with systems operations. Establish and maintain working relationships; solve problems and interact with others under stressful circumstances and time pressure; advise and interact with executives, managers and staff
Conduct appropriate data mining to minimize hand abstraction and set up automated reports for Department Directors to ensure timely population of Departmental Scorecards.
Creating templates for population of scorecards and departmental scorecards by Leadership
Consults with others to assess data processing needs as they are identified.
Oversees computer system operations for department; directs and assists staff in identification and resolution of problems with systems operations.
Reviews all submitted data for accuracy and coaches departments when data is incorrect, or action plans are incomplete. Refers departments to Director as needed
The Data Analyst meets with departments as needed to review scorecards and control charts and helps to educate/prepare action plans
Provides one to one coaching to all departments on using their data for improvement, including how to analyze data, read and interpret charts and how to use data to determine improvement opportunities and for the PI process
Ensures appropriate recordkeeping for key quality and safety committees in order to meet accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Supports the RCA process and SSE analysis process as requested
Provides all data reporting needs for internal and system customers for patient experience data via the Press Ganey improvement portal
Maintains all internal patient experience databases
Assists in the management of all patient relations-related Verge events
Provides data and administrative support in the JCMC and RWJBH Quality Fair, Patient Safety Fairs, Patient Safety Week and other promotional activities to improve Quality/Safety throughout JCMC
Supports the PI Process, as requested by team facilitators
Provides administrative support to the QRS Department in key quality assurance, performance improvement and patient safety activities

Salary Range
$70-$75K
