Preferably located within Sioux Falls, SD or Minneapolis, MN area

Responsibilities

• Review, analyze and select the best sources of supply, and select vendors based off that information.

• Negotiate prices, terms and delivery of feed ingredients to keep our customers’ orders in full and on time.

• Evaluate alternative sources of supply and vendors, paying attention to quality and specifications of ingredients sourced. Create purchase orders and contracts when applicable.

• Responsible for placing orders with vendors and completing purchase orders in the ERP.

• Contact vendors with any quality discrepancies and address issues quickly.

• Communicate ingredient supply issues to other business functions along with the Purchasing manager to help with communication and reformulation efforts.

• Work closely with Global Grain Marketing personnel (i.e., grain merchants, originators, and CHS Hedging) to leverage our scale and other product lines to reduce our cost of goods.

• Build strong working relationships with Plant Managers and Production Teams.

• Must have prior experience and knowledge of the feed industry, ingredient purchasing and logistics, relative value merchandising, and working knowledge of formulation activities.

• Develop purchasing strategies for ingredients responsible for.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

• High School diploma or GED

• 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Purchasing

Additional Qualifications

• SAP experience

• Proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Teams,)

• Purchasing experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

• Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Ability to influence and negotiate

• Strong decision-making skills

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Animal Science/Nutrition, Business, Economics, Manufacturing, Logistics, Statistics or related field

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
