Ridgewood Health Care Laundry Aide in Jasper, Alabama
The Laundry Aide performs the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Director of Environmental Services to assure facilities are maintained in a clean, safe and comfortable manner and that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sorts soiled laundry in accordance with established infection control procedures.
- Loads and unloads laundry into and out of washing and drying machines using laundry chemicals and monitors machines while in use.
- Sorts, labels, folds, mends, counts and irons clean laundry.
- Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times.
- Follow established safety precautions when preforming tasks and using equipment and supplies.
- Reports all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment and supply issues to the supervisor.
- Maintains the comfort, privacy and dignity of Guests/guests and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment.
- Must answer and respond to call lights promptly and courteously when working in Guest care areas.
- Assists with training of new staff.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures.
- Follows code of ethics in procurement, handling of confidential information and personal conduct.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with guests, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
- Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in-services as directed.
- Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) efforts of your organization.
- Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work.
- Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned.
- Follow established policies and procedures in support of QAPI efforts.
- Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization.
- Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success.
- Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e., via actions and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings.
- Performs all other duties that may be assigned.
The Laundry Aide stands and walks intermittently throughout the working day, as well as reaches, stoops, bends, lifts, carries, and manipulates various supplies and equipment. The Laundry Aide must have an ability to work with chemicals and cleaning agents. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds and withstand exposure to temperature and humidity changes. Must be able to push and/or pull wheeled carts and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs. over tiled surfaces over long distances. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and stoop 90% of the work day. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, high heat levels, and laundry and cleaning chemicals. Moderate to heavy physical effort 80% of the time. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully preform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.Willing to work flexible hours, such as during an emergency situation and must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
