Vontier Electrical Designer in Janesville, Wisconsin

This position is primarily responsible preparing drawings and is responsible for resolving associated electrical and fabrication problems. May also participate in designing special modifications to existing designs by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Takes design direction from Controls Manager as well as from assigned Project Engineer and Project Manager

  • Responsible for design accuracy and thoroughness

  • Needs to meet project schedule requirements

  • Design to applicable codes and specs

  • Substantial electrical knowledge

  • Follow all engineering procedures

  • Provide job improvement ideas

  • Good technical communication skills

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

May require a bachelor’s degree; an associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school is required; at least 0-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Development software; AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN Design software; Internet software; Inventory software; Order Processing systems; and Spreadsheet software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES;

· NEC, UL and NEMA Code Knowledge

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

· Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the company.

· Relies on limited experience and judgment to perform the functions of the job.

· Performs a variety of tasks.

· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is required.

· Must be eligible to work in the United States.
