Typically, 6:30pm - 7am
Responsibilities:
Direct Patient Care: Assists with all activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, feeding, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning patients as directed by the RN.
Patient Safety and Environment: Ensures a safe and clean environment by completing safety checks, organizing rooms, cleaning equipment, changing linens, and keeping hallways clear.
Supplies and Equipment: Acquires, distributes, and maintains supplies and equipment, including messenger functions, ordering, stocking, and setting up patient care items.
Core Nursing Functions: Performs tasks like vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, weights, I&O documentation, Foley care, restraint monitoring, and specimen collection.
Documentation and Compliance: Accurately documents care in medical records, complies with safety policies, and adheres to standards for infection control and emergency response.
Communication and Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with the healthcare team, demonstrates cultural competency, supports workplace safety, and fosters positive working relationships.
Professional Growth: Seeks feedback, identifies learning needs, participates in self-reviews, and takes action to enhance skills and performance.
Unit Support: Responds to call lights and telephones, assists with meal trays, transports patients, and performs clerical tasks as needed.
Problem-Solving and Accountability: Suggests improvements, assumes responsibility for assignments, and views challenges as opportunities.
Additional Duties: Provides companionship/supervision, engages patients in diversional activities, and supports restraint reduction as appropriate.
High school diploma or equivalent REQUIRED.
WILLING TO WORK OVERNIGHT SHIFTS!
Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or prior patient care experience preferred.
Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days
Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) within 60 days
NYS Fingerprint Check (NYFP)
NYS Staff Exclusion List (NYSEL)
NYS Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse (NYSCR)
