The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Physical Health & Wellness (PH&W) Regional Director will supervise the Physical Health and Wellness (PH&W) staff in assigned regional offices, overseeing program delivery, and budget execution. The Regional Director ensures PH&W activities are aligned with the organization’s strategic plan and objectives, while taking advantage of all WWP services and third-party assets to develop PH&W programmatic offerings that meet warrior needs. The Regional Director works collaboratively with the PH&W Director and other program peers to impact overall programmatic growth and drive team performance.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise PH&W managers in assigned regional offices.

  • Ensure staff develops ongoing relationships with warriors to increase retention and participation in WWP programs and activities.

  • Work with staff and teammates to develop annual action plans, which ensure PH&W programming is in alignment with WWP’s overall strategic plan.

  • Develop and facilitate virtual programming content via Zoom, Facebook Live, and other technology-based platforms.

  • Develop action, succession, and retention plans.

  • Maintain excellent communication with management teammates.

  • Engage with program and shared services peers to ensure PH&W issues are successfully resolved and communicated.

  • Oversee tracking and reporting of regional staff KPIs in Salesforce.

  • Identify new programs and equipment available and make recommendations to WWP leadership regarding their implementation.

  • Develop and manage regional PH&W budgets.

  • Monitor warrior population as a whole in order to identify and report deficiencies and/or gaps in programs and services.

  • Travel to PH&W events as necessary to monitor regional staff performance and provide support and guidance.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and work collaboratively with teammates and program stakeholders, in-person and through remote formats using video conferencing.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and effectively handle multiple priorities with tight deadlines.

  • Professional presence and demeanor with excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with diverse personalities in a tactful, mature, and flexible manner. Exceptional interpersonal skills. Ability to interact effectively with diverse individuals and build effective working relationships. Demonstrated emotional intelligence.   • Proven leadership abilities with demonstrated experience supervising remote subordinates, with demonstrated success leading, coaching, educating, and mentoring staff.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders in leadership and key community roles.

  • Strong presentation skills. Confident communicator, with demonstrated ability to present information effectively to large audiences, small groups, and individuals. Skill and ease while speaking in public and serving as a representative for the organization.

  • Strong critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to problem-solve and identify viable solutions.

  • Ability to take initiative, multi-task, work independently and work well under pressure.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals in leadership and key community roles throughout the region.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and develop organizational policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Demonstrated understanding of budget management and fiduciary oversight principles.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

  • Highly motivated, passionate and creative team player with demonstrated commitment to the organization.

  • Ability to travel in support of WWP programs and services outreach.

    EXPERIENCE:

Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in fitness industry, allied health profession, health management, strength and conditioning, or personal/athletic training.

  • Five years of staff management experience.

Preferences:

  • Three years of experience working with and providing support to disabled individuals dealing with health issues and invisible injuries or military.

  • Three years of experience managing remote staff.

  • Three years of experience with customer relationship management and event management systems, e.g., Salesforce, CVENT.

  • Three years of experience managing projects or events.

EDUCATION:

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, sports management, recreation management, or similar health or business management field of study.

    CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSURE:

    Requirements:

  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.

  • CPR-First Aid certification.

Preferences:

  • Personal Training certification (ACE, ACSM, NASM, NSCA), Strength and Conditioning certification (CSCS), or other related fitness certification.

  • Wellness coaching certification.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • General office environment; temperature controlled.

  • Up to 50% travel.

    For New York Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $114,240 - $142,800 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.

    For Washington, D.C. Applicants: The estimated hiring range for this position is between $109,670 - $137,088 annual base salary, subject to a candidate’s combination of experience, qualifications, and credentials. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance incentive.
