Job Title: Trailer Mechanic
Job Description:
Trailer mechanics are responsible for performing repairs and installations on trailers, chassis, and containers, with a focus on trailers. Daily meetings with the foreman will outline tasks for the day. Mechanics work on one trailer at a time, performing tasks such as swapping trailer chassis, moving boxes, fabrication, and repairing or replacing trailer doors, hinges, metal floors, wall panels, and roofs. The role requires aluminum and steel welding (primarily MIG aluminum and Stick welding on steel) and electrical wiring (mostly DC) for lights, brakes, and other components. Mechanics may also add items like lift gates and use a forklift to move materials.
Job Overview:
Pay: $20-30 based on interview and experience
Shift: 8-5 (OT available)
Location: Jacksonville, Florida (32220)
Environment: Open shop
Responsibilities:
Perform repairs and installations on trailers, chassis, and containers.
Attend daily meetings with the foreman to discuss tasks.
Work on one trailer at a time.
Swap trailer chassis and move boxes.
Perform fabrication tasks, including repairing or replacing trailer doors and hinges.
Replace or repair metal floors, wall panels, and trailer roofs.
Perform aluminum and steel welding (MIG aluminum and Stick welding on steel).
Conduct electrical wiring (mostly DC) for lights, brakes, and other components.
Add items to trailers such as lift gates.
Use a forklift to move materials around the facility.
Qualifications:
6+ months of experience working on trailers and chassis.
Experience performing repairs on trailers and chassis.
Metal fabrication.
Installing metal flooring and sheets into trailers.
Trailer chassis swaps.
Fabrication of metal frames, bumpers, etc.
MIG and Stick welding (aluminum and steel).
Installing and wiring lights.
DC electrical wiring.
Installing or repairing hinges, doors, roofs, frames, and panels.
Troubleshooting brakes.
Hydraulics.
Diesel engines.
Aluminum welding.
