Payroll Manager

Job Description

  • Managing and reviewing work for a team of 3 to 4 speciaist.

    • Onboarding: Reviews personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll.

    • Compiles and prepares seagoing payroll data. Computes payments and calculates data such as pension insurance and union payments. Reviews payroll tax deductions.

    • Assists in preparing union payroll flow sheets.

    • Reviews bank statements.

    • Follows company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.

    • Audits payroll to ensure accuracy.

    • Assists in processing garnishments and tax levy payments.

    • Adjusts errors and complaints.

    • Prepares and issues payments and processes direct deposit.

    • Issues and mails checks.

    • Assists in reconciling manual controls to computer totals.

    • Oversees payroll files and records are archived for permanent retention.

    • Assists in 401(k) reporting.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3+ years of related experience

  • Union Payroll experience a plus

  • Bi-weekly Payroll 400+ employees

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

  • ERP software experience
