Our client seeks a highly experienced and strategic Interim Executive Director of Human Resources to lead and manage the HR function during a transitional period. The Interim Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all HR operations, including talent management, compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and organizational development. The ideal candidate will provide leadership and guidance on HR matters, ensuring alignment with the institution's mission, goals, and compliance standards. This interim role is a vital part of the leadership team and will help support a seamless transition as the institution identifies a permanent HR leader. Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or related field highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

  • strong knowledge of employment law, regulatory compliance, and HR best practices within higher education.

  • Proven experience in driving diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale organizational change and transition effectively.

  • Proficiency with HRIS, data analytics, and technology solutions to support HR operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.

  • Familiarity with higher education accreditation standards and academic HR policies.

Position Duration: This interim role is expected to last APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS, with the potential for a contract extension or transition assistance for the incoming permanent Executive Director of HR.

salary: $35 - $40 per hour

Responsibilities

  • STRATEGIC HR LEADERSHIP: Provide strategic leadership for HR operations, aligning them with institutional goals and fostering an inclusive, equitable, and high-performance culture.

  • TALENT ACQUISITION & MANAGEMENT: Manage recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention for faculty, staff, and administrators to attract and retain top talent.

  • EMPLOYEE RELATIONS & ENGAGEMENT: Promote a positive work environment by resolving conflicts, addressing grievances, and driving employee engagement initiatives.

  • COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, including Title IX, EEO, FMLA, and ADA, and lead risk management efforts.

  • COMPENSATION & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION: Oversee compensation, salary benchmarking, benefits, and total rewards programs to ensure competitive offerings.

  • ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Implement leadership development and training programs, addressing workforce needs.

  • DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION: Drive DEI efforts in hiring, retention, and workplace culture to ensure diversity and inclusion.

  • HR PROCESS IMPROVEMENT: Optimize HR processes and systems for improved efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience.

  • INTERIM TRANSITION: Provide stable interim HR leadership and support the transition to a permanent Executive Director.
