Post Masters Board Certified Behavior Analyst Intern - SOM Pediatrics
Job Summary:
In this position, the Post-Masters BCBA Intern will spend a portion of their first year providing direct one-to-one instruction to learners with autism in order to receive training in the implementation of a verbal behavior approach to instructional programs based on Skinner's analysis.
Completion of this phase of the internship will occur no sooner than 6-8 months and transition to the next phase of training will be determined by employee performance on competency checklists. Following the direct service portion of training, the second phase of training will consist of a gradual transition of the BCBA Intern to Supervising BCBA over the next 6-12 months. Transition to full responsibilities of a Supervising BCBA will be determined by employee performance on competency checklists.
Education & Experience
Master's Degree in a behavioral health field from an accredited University required.
3 years working in the field of behavior analysis.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Behavior Analysis Board Certification Required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Documented evidence of strong background in the application of behavioral principles with clients with autism. Documentation of effective consultation skills related to the assessment, development and implementation of programs for children with autism. Documentation of training or coursework on Skinner's analysis of verbal behavior (preferred).
RBT certification until s/he receives national board BCBA certification, MS state license, and is credentialed across insurance providers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Carry out the treatment and behavior plans developed by the BCBA based on initial and ongoing assessments. Teach clients developmentally appropriate functional skills and manage challenging behavior as determined through the client's individualized treatment and/or behavior intervention plans. Interact with parents, guardians and other professionals as needed regarding individual treatment plans and progress meeting information. Work with individual clients or groups of clients within the Natural Environment. Assist clients with health an hygiene practices.
Meet with BCBA on a regular basis to review duties and responsibilities. Receive ongoing supervision from the BCBA and implement feedback and recommendations.
Responsible for daily upkeep of program materials for designated clients according to guidelines as set forth by the BCBA. This includes: data collection, probing, graphing, updating program book(s) and session notes into medical record system, replenishing daily materials needed for assigned clients, organizing and cleaning assigned clients work area.
Protect and ensure the health and safety of every child by providing the most appropriate developmentally individualized learning environment for each client of the clinic.
Participate in selection and evaluations of clients for admissions to the clinic.
Conduct initial assessments including FBAs, ABLLS-Rs, VB-MAPPs, etc. developing assessment reports regarding assessment outcomes and developing treatment and behavior intervention plans. Coordinate care with other medical, behavioral, or community providers. Ensure that direct service providers are maintaining all materials necessary for teaching and monitoring progress.
Develop and maintain through updating treatment and behavior intervention plans with measurable objective goals with baseline and mastery criteria for all goals and to ensure continued client progress. Ensure that any and all decision to implement teaching procedures, interventions, etc. are conducted within all ethical standards.
Determination of appropriate schedule for and implementation of direct clinical
observation/supervision, treatment planning, and parent training based on insurance authorizations or client need (whichever is greater).
Monitor progress and make data-based decisions in a timely manner to ensure progress or efforts to obtain progress are ongoing. Complete a progress report for each client every 6-8 weeks, schedule brief progress meeting with parents (e.g., 15-20 minutes) within one week of progress report completion. Schedule re-assessments in coordination with the BCBA-D at least within 30 days reauthorization period.
Oversee the development of Transition and Discharge Plans as appropriate. Maintain client records, document client progress, and ensure the confidentiality of information pertaining to each client. Maintain supervision notes and documentation in client files that meet the insurance provider guidelines and company policies. Maintain accurate
