Intermountain Health Finance Director Proactive Care in Jackson, Mississippi

Job Description:

The Director of Finance, Proactive Care Support Services will support financial strategy, reporting, and analysis focusing on Intermountain Health’s key strategy of Expanding Proactive Care. This leader will evaluate and forecast financial performance under alternative payment models, aligning incentives across payment arrangements, and collaborating with finance and operational leaders to optimize outcomes in an integrated system. In addition, the Director will lead a team responsible for measuring system-impact of operational decisions in a mixed fee-for-service and at-risk payment environment.

This is an exempt, full-time remote position that requires periodic travel to locations in which Intermountain operates (Colorado, Utah or Montana).

As the Director of Finance, Proactive Care Support Services, you will:

  • Evaluate alternative payment model contracts with internal and external payers to determine performance viability in an integrated system; perform make-good analyses on existing contracts and makes recommendations for renewal

  • Have in-depth knowledge of various alternative payment models and provider alignment tools (e.g., CINs, VBEs, IPAs); and familiarity with healthcare regulations and policies related to value-based care and payment models

  • Forecast financial performance under mixed-payment models (e.g., FFS, bundles, shared-savings, capitation) to inform capital and operational plans. Work with system and field analytics and finance leadership to evaluate and monitor the integrated system impact of Proactive Care strategies; Establishes reporting, KPIs, and performance monitoring for key proactive care strategies

  • Review or prepare comprehensive financial analyses and feasibility studies, making recommendations based on the results to support informed decision-making. Consider the interplay between fee-for-service and at-risk payment arrangements and its impact on system performance

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of healthcare finance and economics, applying this knowledge to drive financial strategies and decision-making. Educate leaders (frontline managers and directors) on healthcare finance and economics by providing resources that enhance their understanding of financial principles and their impact on patient care and hospital operations.

  • Lead within a complex matrix enterprise by navigating and coordinating across multiple functions and reporting lines, leveraging effective communication skills to align diverse teams toward common goals.

  • Lead a team of finance caregivers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment while supporting their professional development.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business/healthcare administration or related field from an accredited institution is required. Education is verified.

  • In-depth knowledge of various alternative payment models and provider alignment tools (e.g., CINs, VBEs, IPAs); Familiarity with healthcare regulations and policies related to value-based care and payment models

  • Demonstrates excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities to drive financial success in an integrated healthcare system.

  • Experience directly managing staff with the ability to coach and mentor finance professionals.

  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) with the ability to communicate with all levels of the enterprise including staff, management, and physicians.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience communicating with various organizational levels.

  • Experience working with spreadsheet, word processing, and Internet programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly prefer prior finance leadership experience in a highly matrixed healthcare organization

  • Highly prefer experience in value-based care finance, specifically related to at ‐risk payment arrangements and alternative payment models, along with strong experience in healthcare financing models and their implications on an integrated delivery system

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, business/healthcare administration or MBA from an accredited institution. Education is verified.

  • CPA, CHFP or FHFMA

  • Seven years of progressive financial experience.

  • Knowledge of Intermountain information systems and financial processes.

  • Experience with and a working knowledge of healthcare revenue cycle operations, supply chain, payer contracting, and Medicare/Medicaid cost reports.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$66.41 - $102.52
