Job Title:

Air Filtration Maintenance Technician - Facilities Services

 

 

Job Summary:

To inspect and maintain the ventilating and air conditioning systems of UMMC medical center. To inspect system components on a recurring basis and document work procedures.

 

 

Education & Experience

Two years of related experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration required:  Valid Driver's License required.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.  Knowledge of filtration methods.  Basic verbal and written communication skills.  Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members and management.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and maintains HVAC components such as filters, fans, coils, ducts, minor electrical components, grills, and motors.
  • Complies with applicable standards, policies, and procedures to include safety procedures.
  • Coordinates with supervisor to maintain inventory levels and equipment needs.
  • Documents work procedures and completes required reports.
  • Reports any HVAC related problems to supervisor.
  • Provides assistance to other shop employees as needed.

Physical and Environmental Demands Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying m re than 100 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, frequent twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)
