LeMatic, Inc. Mechanical Engineering Supervisor in Jackson, Michigan

Lematic, Inc. in Jackson, MI is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to perform the following job duties:

  • Design new products and modify existing designs.
  • Assist in resolution of Manufacturing, Assembly, Outsourcing, Warranty and Rectification issues.
  • Provides guidance to manufacturing and assembly during initial new product build.
  • Actively research and analyze competitive offerings.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, required resources, cost effectiveness, and market demand for new products.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve product positioning and market competitiveness for LeMatic and develops recommendations accordingly.
  • Supports the development of owners' manuals for all new products.
  • Supports or owns special project initiatives as directed by VP of Engineering.
  • Works with hand/power tools to assist in assembly, repair, or troubleshooting of machinery.
  • Designs components in a cost-conscious manner and strives to reduce cost on existing components and assemblies.
  • Listens to and resolves assembly/manufacturing requests or concerns.
  • Must be flexible with responsibilities/projects/duties as these may change based on loading.
  • Assists in creation and maintenance of quality standards on all new products.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed safely while ensuring documentation is in place.
  • Provides support/documentation for projects to successfully enter mainstream manufacturing.
  • Supports the development of Features, Benefits, Spec.'s, and various Marcom for Sales as it relates to new products.
  • Support the Sales Team in conveying new product knowledge to customers with personal visits, conference calls, etc.
  • Allocates Engineering workloads to appropriate resources to achieve the accomplishment of Production Milestones.
  • Oversees the day-to-day decisions and work execution of the Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Takes a proactive approach to new product development and equipment upgrades.
  • Resolves Warranty and Rectification issues as requested by VP of Engineering.
  • Responds quickly to rectification needs on existing field installations.
  • Implements and executes a plan for rectification reduction and Engineering BOM changes.
  • Establishes best practice standards and leads the Mechanical Engineering Team to strive for Engineering Excellence.
  • Through leadership, instills a pride of "quality of execution" in the daily performance of the Mechanical Engineering Team.
  • Manages the revisions of Mechanical Engineering documentation to improve the quality of designs, drawings, Bills of Materials, and manufacturing & assembly directions.
  • Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Provides direction and examples for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.
  • Resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.

     

Master's preferred, or Bachelor's with 10+ years of experience.
