Aerotek Material Handler in Jackson, Michigan

Description:

Perform a variety of duties to pack and prepare company products for shipment in accordance with packing and shipping specifications or instructions. Duties require care and accuracy in packaging to avoid damage to materials, ensure safe transit, and to ensure items are shipped for conformity to specification. Work will involve the use of a chop saw, overhead hoist, measuring tape, hand tools, nails and strapping tool. Daily use of forklift and crane to move materials.

In addition, position must operate external shipping company software. Use of UPS and FedEx Ground applications daily to schedule and label freight for ground shipment.

Shipping and receiving

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Must be able to learn the external shipping company software and equipment. Proven computer skills are required.

Must be capable in basic math and reading skills and to use ruler/tape measure..

Daily lift or move of heavy weight material in difficult work positions (Up to 30 pounds or attain assistance with heavier material).

Experience of one (1) year or more using a forklift/overhead crane

Previous shipping/material handling experience

Previous experience in packaging
