Apicha Community Health Center FACILITIES, SECURITY AND MAINTENANCE MANAGER in Jackson Heights, New York

Position Summary: We are looking for a Facilities, Security and Maintenance Manager with a hands-on approach, responsible for the safety, proper functioning, appearance, cleanliness, and management and regulatory compliance of the Jackson Heights facilities in which Apicha Community Health Center operates. Ensure a secure and safe environment is maintained, and all work is done in accordance with local/State/Federal & OSHA regulations. Daily management and supervision of custodians, oversight of all facility and security related issues including maintenance and repair services, security of facilities, staff and patients, life and fire safety, managing and maintaining inventory of equipment and furniture, as well as space utilization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Facilities Management - Ensures maintenance and general appearance of Apicha’s Jackson Heights facilities including walls, floors, furniture and signage etc. This includes performance as patching and painting.

  • Security, Safety and Compliance - Ensures proper security measures are implemented and maintained to protect Apicha’s staff, patients, equipment and supplies, including by regularly patrolling and monitoring premises.

  • Vendor Management - Provides vendor oversight for major building equipment and infrastructure such as heating and ventilation systems, plumbing and electrical.

  • Custodian Management and Supervision - Manages and supervises a team of custodians including training, deciding and directing work assignments, monitoring of work quality, assessing performance and conduct, and recommending discipline/discharge as appropriate.

  • Space Utilization Management - Maintains accurate space utilization records including assignment of desks and lockers

  • Customer Service and Relationship Management - Proactively builds and sustains partnerships with critical external partners including Department of Buildings, Local fire and Police Department, community partners.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required; AS/BS in construction management preferred

  • 3 + years in construction or building maintenance required, including security

  • 2 + years medical facility experience and/or familiarity with infection control guidelines preferred

  • Basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC knowledge

  • Ability to perform basic repairs such as replacing a door lock, light fixture etc.

  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools

  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the organization.

  • Ability to stay and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks, and excellent attention to detail.
