U.S. Marine Corps TRAINING SPECIALIST in Iwakuni, Japan

Summary You will serve as a TRAINING SPECIALIST in the Provost Marshall Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI . ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below. Responsibilities You will serve as a training instructor for the organization as the resident subject matter expert and resource person in the instructional area of aw evidence, terrorism, laws of arrest, search and seizure, firearms training, basic criminology, etc. You will assist host of In-Service Training Courses with organizing, scheduling, and coordinating In-Service Training Courses which are designed to maximize individual competencies. You will develop Performance Objectives and Standards to aide in properly identifying training needs and requirements of each student.. You will contact other training facilities and work closely with the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Training Academy staff to compile and analyze material to supplement his/her course information, such as development of training ideas and aides.. You will provide classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment, and the application of techniques. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector developing, evaluating, and maintaining training materials for programs of instruction; providing training and classroom instruction of law enforcement equipment usage and application techniques and law enforcement requirements. Education Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. or Experience Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s). Supervising or administering a training program. Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results. Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate's degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. You must be willing to complete the Marine Corps Range Safety Officer Course and Basic Instructor Certification Course within 1 year from the date of employment. Must be willing to successfully receive certifications in the following within 2 years from the date of employment: a. Non-lethal Weapons Instructor, including Taser, baton and Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray b. Small Arms Marksmanship Instructor c. Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) Instructor d. Speed Measuring Instructor for Radar and Lidar e. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Instructor f. Gas Mask Fit Test Certification You must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
