U.S. Marine Corps SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR NF-03 RFT (ALL SOURCES) in Iwakuni, Japan

Summary Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! MCCS is a comprehensive program that supports and enhances the quality of life for Marines, their families, and others in the Marine Corps Community. Responsibilities Plans, coordinates, and logistically supports a variety of events as directed in support of Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni (MCASI) and MCCS. MCCS event examples include unit family days, Marine Corps Ball, MCASI open house events, Armed Forces Entertainment (AFE) and United Service Organizations (USO) events, flea markets, recreational and cultural events, and other MCCS activities as assigned. Coordinates and executes the logistical support for events including but not limited to scheduling event venues, preparing facility requests, coordinating base access, catering, transportation, and lodging. Assist with the delivery and removal of items from event sites using 3-Ton vehicles and forklifts. Assists in the supervision of volunteers and temporary staff in the absence of the Special Events Supervisor. Works with the Special Events Supervisor to expand, revise, adapt, or change plans, and modify activities as time sensitive situations develop. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Asks questions to determine, verify and solve problems. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. Two years of experience which demonstrates knowledge of the principles, techniques, and methods used in organizing, planning, administering, logistically supporting and executing event related activities. Experience planning and executing recreation/entertainment style events is preferred. 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels through both written and oral methods to deliver clear and concise information. 3. Must be a self-driven team player, capable of communicating innovative ideas. 4. Demonstrated ability and experience in Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 5. Must have a SOFA Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 14 days of employment. 6. Must possess the ability to obtain an Operator's License for Forklifts up to 10 tons within 60 of employment. License must be maintained throughout the period of employment. 7. Must be able to perform work requiring prolonged standing, walking, reaching, lifting, and carrying objects up to 40 lbs. (18 kg) independently and objects over 40 lbs. (18 kg) with assistance. 8. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include nighttime, weekends, and holidays. 9.
