Your role as a Material Handler:

As a member of the Hotel's Culinary Team, this position is responsible for all aspects of the receiving area operations for the The Statler Hotel and the School of Hotel Administration.You will work with an impressive team of hospitality professionals, passionately engaged in our mission delivering world class service to our guests while helping to develop the future leaders of the hospitality industry!


Your duties will include:

  • Receiving products in and compare vs. the vendor invoice and Statler purchase order/receiving document (if applicable) paying particular attention to quality and quantity.
  • Deliver products and packages to the appropriate location according the purchase order, shipping label, or vendor invoice and notifying the recipient that the items have arrived.
  • Secure products in receiving when the recipient is unavailable, following up via phone and email and re-attempting delivery when available.
  • Ensure invoices and POs are matched correctly; shipping of UPS packages and scheduling pickup of outgoing FedEx packages.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of receiving area by making sure all cardboard, recycling, compost is removed daily and area is swept and mopped daily.
  • And you may be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and perform basic math.
  • Experience working in a warehouse, receiving or loading dock operation.
  • Ability to lift and transport items that may exceed 50 lbs.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times.
  • Valid NYS Driver License with no major driving violations.
  • The work schedule for this position will be primarily weekdays, but may include occasional weekend availability.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years Experience working in a warehouse, receiving or loading dock operation.
