Research & Innovation is a cross-campus division with a university-wide scope that encompasses the Ithaca campus, Cornell Tech and Weill Cornell Medicine in NYC, and significant externally facing activities. The Vice President and staff of the OVPRI frequently interface with senior leaders from New York State, including the Governor's Office, federal agencies, peer institutions, and private industry.

In a team and service-oriented environment, this position will work closely with the HR Business Partner and Talent Specialist to provide support for recruitment, employee onboarding, and employee engagement. The HR Talent and Employee Engagement Partner plays a critical role in leading, organizing, and delivering results tied to talent management and recruitment priorities and also works to measure and influence the workplace culture and climate. This role partners regularly with leaders on strategies and internal processes to ensure open roles are filled efficiently, in a compliant manner with the best available talent.
As the HR Talent and Employee Engagement Partner, you will:
- Provide recruitment and hiring support to Research and Innovation managers and leadership.
- Identify and cultivate diverse talent pools for key hiring areas by actively participating in career fairs, leveraging social media platforms, and utilizing both internal and external outreach channels. Support a climate of inclusion and belonging for employees.
- Create resources and tools to support best practices for recruitment, onboarding, and retention.
- Participate in identifying, developing and delivering educational and training programs to share and advance recruitment expertise with staff and hiring managers.
- Serve as the first point of contact using independent judgment for information on HR recruitment, onboarding, engagement processes, and HR policy interpretation and liaise with University HR and subject matter experts as needed; partner with others on the HR team for more complex cases.
Currently, core work hours for the OVPRI HR Team are Monday through Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM, with flexibility on exact start and end times. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Your hybrid arrangement will be determined by your supervisor. Core hours are subject to change based on business needs.

What We Need

- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline with 2 years related experience in human resources with strong focus on recruitment and process improvement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion in every HR or business functional area.
- Demonstrated positive and professional attitude, strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust/maintain relationships with diverse audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Proven written and oral communication skills.
- Self-starter with sound judgment, cultural awareness and proven decision-making skills; demonstrated initiative and self-direction to follow through on all areas of responsibility with minimal direct supervision.
- Attention to detail in work products.
