Ithaca College ASSISTANT PROFESSOR – STAGE MANAGEMENT in Ithaca, New York

Situated in the beautiful Finger Lake region of New York, the Ithaca College School of Music, Theatre, and Dance invites applications for a tenure eligible appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor of Stage Management to join a faculty dedicated to inclusive ideas and practices in all that they do – from materials, current events and history taught in courses, to decolonizing the curriculum, our production season, and our points of view towards admission, recruitment, and retention. Position Description:

The successful candidate will teach assigned Stage Management classes at the undergraduate level (examples include: Stage Management Foundations, Stage Management, Advanced Stage Management, Stage Management Seminar), mentor students in production, and will potentially teach courses that serve the foundational curriculum for the Center for Theatre and Dance (examples include: Introduction to Theatre, Race and Theatre in the United States, Introduction to Professional Theatre). They will participate in departmental, school, and college recruitment and service – including advising and review of students. Additionally, they will provide leadership in production in collaboration with directors, choreographers, student designers, stage managers, and theatre artists, as part of a robust production program.

Qualifications:

Terminal degree in appropriate discipline (such as M.F.A. in Stage Management) and professional experience are required. The ideal candidate will possess a strong interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students; an ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures; and demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills. They will have an understanding of how the production process functions in and outside of the rehearsal room (production management, company management, general management, and project management; producing). Practical experience in these areas will be valued.

The candidate will maintain connections to professional networks that will aid in creating a bridge between our students and the profession. The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance is supportive of continuing professional commitments.

Hiring Range:

$61,000 - $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
