Job Overview:

APTIM's Sustainability Solutions Group is seeking a motivated experienced Sustainability and GHG Analyst who demonstrates a commitment to and enthusiasm for decarbonization and sustainability. Successful candidates will have significant experience conducting GHG footprint development and/or verification aligned with the GHG Protocol and have expertise or interest in developing expertise in delivering additional sustainability services, possibly including, but not limited to ESG disclosures, energy efficiency, waste minimization, and/or water efficiency.

This person will be responsible for conducting a range of GHG services, including footprint analysis, supporting science-based goal validation, and emission reduction road mapping. This role requires a dynamic individual with a solutions-focus approach who communicates across functional teams to exchange ideas, embraces a collaborative approach, and finds solutions to challenges as they arise. Candidates must be able to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines, be well-versed in the GHG Protocol, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors. Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive greenhouse gas inventories, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, in accordance with relevant standards and protocols (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064).

  • Identify and evaluate emissions reduction opportunities and develop strategies for emissions mitigation.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to collect and verify data related to emissions sources, energy consumption, waste management, and other relevant factors.

  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in GHG accounting methodologies and reporting frameworks to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

  • Prepare accurate and compelling reports, presentations, and recommendations to communicate GHG performance to management, clients, and regulatory bodies as needed.

  • Support sustainability initiatives and projects by providing technical expertise and guidance on GHG emissions reduction strategies.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability practices into business operations and decision-making processes.

  • Conduct regular audits for APTIM's internal GHG accounting and reviews to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with internal and external requirements.

  • Develop strategies and tools to streamline processes for internal and external purposes.

  • Participate in sustainability-related meetings, conferences, and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and stay abreast of industry trends.

  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

  • Provide management accurate information to assist in guiding decisions.

  • Comply with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Studies, Engineering, Economics, Sustainability, Planning, Policy) from an accredited four-year college or university.

  • 2-5+ years' experience as a Greenhouse Gas Analyst or in a similar role in GHG inventory management and/or reporting.

  • Strong quantitative and analytic capabilities including calculation review and spreadsheet analysis.

  • Strong knowledge of GHG accounting methodologies, emission factors, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, CDP).

  • Strong interest in sustainability practices and assisting clients to reduce their carbon footprint.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; experience with client engagement and coordination.

  • Ability to plan, execute and deliver on projects in a timely manner, with the added ability to multi-task on varying projects and initiatives.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends, patterns, and insights to various audiences.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and with clients.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with managing GHG projects for a variety of clients (commercial, industrial and government) from start to finish.

  • Working knowledge of building performance standard and benchmarking requirements.

  • Proven track record of assisting clients with meeting and exceeding their GHG reduction goals.

  • Experience with third party verification and/or assurance.
