Manual Machinist Needed!

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Manual Machinist to operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. The ideal candidate will read and interpret technical drawings and required specifications, demonstrate expertise in producing parts from various materials, and select appropriate tools and materials for each job. You will plan the sequence of operations, monitor and control feed rates and speeds, and ensure the accuracy of dimensions using measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.

• Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

• Produce parts using a variety of materials.

• Select tools and materials tailored to each job's requirements.

• Plan the sequence of cutting and finishing operations.

• Monitor and control feed rates and speeds, adjusting as necessary.

• Utilize measurement tools such as micrometers and calipers to ensure accuracy.

• Assess and replace cutting tools as needed.

• Perform machine maintenance and minor repairs.

Essential Skills

• Experience setting up and operating manual mill and lathe Bridgeport machines.

• Proficiency in manual machining and using conventional mill and lathe equipment.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Knowledge of manual mill operations and Bridgeport machines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail.

• Excellent problem-solving abilities.

• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is a new machine shop with plenty of room to operate. The department is being built out, ensuring modern facilities and equipment. The shop maintains a clean and noise-controlled environment to support a comfortable and efficient workspace.

This is a Contract position based out of Irvine, California

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00
