Aerotek Machine Operator in Irvine, California

Machine Operator

Description:

  • 2nd Shift, 2:30pm-10:30pm, Over Time & Saturdays as Needed (Training on 1st Shift for 1-2 Months: 6:00am-2:30pm).

  • This role will be setting up and operating various types of extrusion equipment, and performing in process inspection.

  • This role will require basic mechanical aptitude, basic shop math, basic print reading, the use of common hand tools, basic inspection tools, basic trouble shooting, and intermediate knowledge of material forming techniques including internal and external cold roll extrusion.

  • Direct Hire/Permanent Hire opportunity.

Extrusion Operator: $21-$24

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

• Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.

• Correctly interpret work orders and verify documentation

• Work in a team environment, i.e. follow instructions and assist others as needed.

• Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition.

• Perform daily housekeeping / 6S activities as required.

• Perform visual inspection to verify no defects or damage

• Adhere to the Business Quality Management System (BQMS)

• Run advanced extrusion independently (ie Barnes, 30” + 20” Pipe)

• Perform change set up for multiple jobs

• Perform tooling change when necessary

• Knowledgeable of running multiple advanced machines

• Ability to run legacy programs without supervision

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested by supervisor or manager.

Saw Operator: $18-$21

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

• Operate saws and shear to produce material for forging

• Sanding and polishing operation on Outer Diameter Sanding Machine

• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills:

• The ability to read and write English.

• Basic shop math

• Basic powered equipment operation

• Basic measuring tools

• Ability to lift up to 35lbs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Required Skills:

• Basic English language skills and the ability to read, follow, and interpret planning and work order instructions

• Ability to verify part quantity and perform visual inspection for defects or damage

• Punctuality

• The ability to perform basic shop math, fractions, decimals.

• The ability to navigate intranet to locate process documents - basic computer skills

• Proficient knowledge of metals and how they react to extrusion process

• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required due to government military contracts.

Work Environment:

  • Industrial machine shop, loud, stays cool, will be required to wear PPE (steel toed shoes, hard hat, protective eyewear and gloves).
