Astronics Test Systems Assembler 3 (SMD) in Irvine, California
General Summary:
Applies exceptional hand-soldering skills on thru-hole and surface mount boards. Is responsible for hand fitting SMD and through-hole components into PCB/PWAs as well as undertaking complex rework and assembly on PWA/PCBs. Performs repair, rework and modifications on thru-hole and surface-mount modules. Assembles printed circuit boards, thru-hole and surface-mount, utilizes various manufacturing tools and equipment including microscope.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Assembles and wires basic and complex electronic boards, thru-hole and surface-mount, and equipment following assembly documentation.
Performs repairs to printed circuit boards, reworks defective manufacturing assemblies and refurbishes used assemblies.
Responsible for modifying printed circuit boards per engineering change notices.
Performs complex electro-mechanical assembly involving wiring, component installation, hand soldering and cable harnessing on assembly units.
Works to specified tolerances from prints, wire lists, parts lists, engineering schematics/instructions and engineering change orders.
Performs complex rework on PWA/PCBs for both through-hole and SMD components.
Manually installs components that cannot be placed by PandP machine.
Ensures that final assemblies conform to engineering specifications and quality standards, and that assembly methods and sequence of operations follow approved manufacturing processes and assembly protocols.
Prepares and maintains assembly documentation such as product serialization logs, traceability records and performance metrics for review by the quality control/inspection team.
Collaborates with Quality Assurance in the labeling of all products with required serialization and traceability markings and other forms of product identification.
Performs visual quality inspection of PCB assembly.
Identifies issues and opportunity for improvement.
Job Specifications:
Minimum of 5 years electronic assembly experience.
Must be able to read blueprints and schematics, identify components and color codes.
Must be creative in troubleshooting and/or repairing assemblies.
Requires excellent soldering skills with thru-hole and surface-mount co
