Meridian Behavioral Health Technician-On call in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota
Description
Position: On-call Technician
Location: Gateway Recovery Center-Detox, Inver Grove Heights
Shifts: 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift
Pay:
1st shift: $18/hr. (7:15am-3:30pm)
2nd shift: $18/hr. (3:15pm-11:30pm)
3rd shift: $20/hr. (11:15pm-7:30am)
This job is expected to complete the following functions. This is not an all-inclusive list. This job may be assigned other functions or tasks as business needs dictate. This is meant to be a general description of the most essential duties only.
Clinical Procedures
Follow Gateway Recovery Center’s screening and admission protocol.
Perform basic health screening procedures with all clients as directed by Registered Nurse.
Interview clients to obtain basic medical history and current health complaints.
Observe the guest's health status, particularly as it relates to detoxification and withdrawal.
Assist clients with basic activities of daily living and personal hygiene, as needed.
Orient clients to their rights per Minnesota Statute 148F.165, and staff responsibilities to clients per Minnesota Statutes 144.651 and 253B.03.
Assist in sanitation and disinfection of the facility.
Communicate on a regular and timely basis with other members of the clinical team.
Report any unsafe conditions or client concerns to the Executive Director.
Attend mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
Assist in orientation of new employees and interns, if assigned.
Provide legible, written documentation of client notes/ progress in the EHR system and must be completed by program and DHS regulations.
Education/Licensure/Certification/Experience Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age or older
Free from substance use problems for at least one year.
Possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have, or obtain the following (if requested)
A current first aid certificate from the American Red Cross or an equivalent organization.
A current CPR certificate from the American red Cross, the American Heart Association, a community organization, or an equivalent organization.
Knowledge of:
State and Federal law regarding confidentiality of alcohol and drug treatment records and HIV testing/status including 42 CFR, part 2.
First aid for seizures, trauma, and loss of consciousness
Client bill of rights in Minnesota Statutes 148F.165, and staff responsibilities in Minnesota Statutes 144.651 and 253B.03
Basic health screening procedures with intoxicated clients that consist of:a. blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration readingsb. interviewing to obtain relevant medical history and current health complaintsc. visual observation of a client's health status, including monitoring a client's behavior as it relates to health status
Supporting clients with basic activities of daily living and personal hygiene
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Business and office practice/procedures
Healthcare industry, especially substance abuse and mental health services
Technology proficiency with various software packages including EHR/EMR andkeyboarding skills
Continuous quality improvement
