Job Title: Mechanic

Job Description

We are a small family-owned shop that has been in business for the past 54 years. We are currently seeking to add a mechanic to our team to perform work on all types of large equipment including trucks, buses, trailers, and cranes. This is a great opportunity for both experienced and entry-level mechanics looking to receive on-the-job training.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and maintenance work on large equipment such as trucks, buses, trailers, and cranes.

• Work on transmissions, engines, and truck bodies.

• Conduct brake jobs, oil changes, and other basic duties for entry-level candidates.

• Progressively learn and perform more complex repair work over time.

• Utilize mechanical aptitude, hand and power tools for various repair and maintenance tasks.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and pneumatics.

• Conduct welding and automotive repair tasks as needed.

• Perform preventive maintenance and industrial maintenance.

Essential Skills

• 2-3 years of experience in the Diesel field.

• Experience working on transmissions, engines, and truck bodies.

• Mechanical aptitude and proficiency with hand and power tools.

• Ability to conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting.

• Knowledge of hydraulics, electrical systems, and pneumatics.

• Skills in welding and automotive repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with trailer repair and brake systems.

• Ability to perform preventive maintenance and industrial maintenance tasks.

• Familiarity with using diagnostic tools and equipment.

Flexible hours allow employees to start any time between 6 AM - 8 AM, and we are open to candidates who cannot work a full-time schedule. Additionally, all tools brought into the shop by employees are insured, and we assist with helping employees gain the proper tools needed for the job over time.

Work Environment

Our repair shop has garage doors that are open during the summer and closed in the winter. The facility is heated for comfort during colder months. We maintain a relaxed and supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to grow and develop their skills.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $58240.00/yr.

• Employees have the opportunity to use the shop on the weekends for any personal projects or work that they want to do on their own (this could be a side job that they are doing for friends/family or just to work on their own equipment)

• Will pay for candidates to attend school and receive a degree related to Diesel maintenance work

• Flexible hours (they are willing to have people start any time between 6AM - 8AM. Additionally, they are open to candidates that cannot work a full time schedule.

• Great opportunity to receive on the job training (the owner started out at age 15 sweeping floors and is on track to retire at age 55)

• Very laid back environment/culture. Very willing to work with employees as long as they are consistent hard workers and provide value to the business.

• All tools that employees bring into the shop are ensured by Truck Repair & Equipment

• Company will assist with helping employees gain the proper tools needed for the job over time
